How every deck is checked

Before a Premium deck goes on sale, our appraiser approves the listing, its photos and its grade.

Who checks it

Our appraiser approves every Premium listing before it shows on Madera. Artifacts get a second, final check in our warehouse before they ship. We don’t name the appraiser on the page.

The photos you’ll see

Every deck page has a real photo gallery with zoom and labeled close-ups:

  • Full silhouette
  • Graphic close-up
  • Full top
  • Nose close-up
  • Middle close-up
  • Tail close-up
  • Signature, if signed

A signature close-up is included only when the board is signed.

Grades

Each deck carries a grade from the condition guide, written by Ed. The definition on the condition guide is the one the deck page uses.

Originals and reissues

Originals and reissues are different objects with different values, and we label them. At launch Madera lists originals only, so there is no reissue filter. See the FAQ.

At launch we list originals only. The appraiser looks for a reissue in the photos and the listing says so if we see one.
